# An Overview of the Top Toolbar

### The Top Toolbar is your main access point to all of Scriptation's features and functions.

In Scriptation 6.0, the Top Toolbar is organized into three areas:

* **Left** — the **File Browser**;
* **Center** — your **Centered Tools** (customizable, up to 5);
* **Right** — your **File Action Tools** (customizable, up to 3) plus the **Menu**.

### File Browser

Storage of files and folders, both locally and in the [cloud](https://help.scriptation.com/en/article/how-to-sync-files-across-devices-with-cloud-storage-rj94v/).

### Centered Tools

These tools sit in the middle of the toolbar and can be reordered or swapped out from **Settings** → **Toolbars** → **Centered Tools** (minimum 1, maximum 5). Available options include:

* [**Layers**](https://help.scriptation.com/en/article/what-are-layers-and-how-do-i-use-them-1ozes9v/) — Create, view, and share separate layers of annotations;
* [**Highlight**](https://help.scriptation.com/en/article/what-is-auto-highlighting-17llf2q/) — Toggle on/off auto-highlighting;
* [**Annotate**](https://help.scriptation.com/en/article/an-overview-of-the-annotation-toolbar-6jmhwg/) — Open or close the Annotation Toolbar;
* [**Transfer**](https://help.scriptation.com/en/article/how-do-i-transfer-my-notes-1khpcd8/) — Move your annotations between drafts;
* [**Tagging**](https://help.scriptation.com/en/article/how-do-i-use-tagging-9lma1q/) — Break down your script and create reports for your team;
* [**Playback**](https://help.scriptation.com/en/article/what-is-playback-mode-dg5uqr/) — Read your script aloud, set up rehearsals, and record self-tapes *(replaces Read, Rehearse, and Record modes from earlier versions)*;
* [**Lining**](https://help.scriptation.com/en/article/how-do-i-use-lining-tools-pzb2l3/) — Automatically create tram lines and export reports;
* [**Analyze**](https://help.scriptation.com/en/article/what-is-the-analyze-tool-2rpem1/) — Use AI to compare two drafts and have the changes explained;
* **Plus Sign (+)** — Displays the remaining tools that didn't fit on the toolbar, plus a shortcut to Toolbar customization.

### File Action Tools

These sit on the right side of the toolbar and act on the current file. Configurable from **Settings** → **Toolbars** → **File Action Tools** (minimum 1, maximum 3). Available options include:

* [**Bookmark**](https://help.scriptation.com/en/article/what-are-bookmarks-and-how-can-i-use-them-1moexcu/) — Bookmark pages so you can access them quickly;
* [**Summary**](https://help.scriptation.com/en/article/outline-viewing-and-searching-your-annotations-6opg9t/) — Browse through bookmarked pages and annotations in a list;
* [**Page Manager**](https://help.scriptation.com/en/article/what-are-facing-pages-and-how-do-i-add-them-1qh8gjs/) — Add single blank pages, facing pages, or create sides;
* [**Search**](https://help.scriptation.com/en/article/how-do-i-search-for-a-word-or-phrase-rnu3bn/) — Search for keywords in the script text or in annotations.

### Menu

* **Menu** — The three-dot icon (**⋯**) at the far right. Opens a dropdown with **Settings**, **Share** options *(Quick Export, Export Layers, and other sharing actions)*, and any File Action Tools that aren't currently pinned to the toolbar.

| ✅ TIP: If you use **Search** or another menu option often, you can move it to your Top Toolbar from **Settings** → **Toolbars** → **Top Right Tools**
