The standard voices built in to the Mac operating system and the iOS (what's on an iPad and iPhone) aren't very smooth and listening to them for an extended period of time may result in mental distress.

We recommend downloading Enhanced and / or Premium voices from Apple, which will make Scriptation's readback features a much better experience.

iPad / iPhone:

Go to Settings > Accessibility > Voiceover > Speech > Additional Voices > select your language:
You'll see a list of voices; the ones that are available for download will have a download icon;
Preview the enhanced voices you're interested in by clicking the arrow to the left of the name;
To download, click the download icon;
Touch the left-pointing caret at the upper left until you're back at the Settings window;
Return to Scriptation and the voice(s) you downloaded will be available for readbacks.

Mac:

Close Scriptation, if it's open;
Go to Settings > Accessibility > Spoken Content > System Voice > Manage Voices...
From the left-hand panel, choose your language;
You'll see a list of voices and the ones that are available for download will have a download icon;
Preview the enhanced voices you're interested in by clicking the arrow to the left of the name;
To download, click the download icon;
Click OK to exit this section of the Settings window;
Open Scriptation and the voice(s) you downloaded will be available for readbacks.
