# Can I use Scriptation to write scripts?

**No.** Scriptation isn't a writing program — it's a suite of tools for working with scripts **after** they're written.

Scriptation is built for producers, creatives, actors, and crew members who need to:

* Mark up, annotate, and organize notes on a script;
* Transfer notes across script revisions;
* Break down a script for production with Tagging;
* Collaborate with their team using Layers and Live Layers;
* Hear the script read aloud with Playback Mode;
* Generate reports for departments.
