# How can I draw lines, arrows and shapes?

Scriptation lets you draw lines, arrows, ellipses, and rectangles directly on your script, then customize and reposition them — all from the [Annotation Toolbar](https://help.scriptation.com/en/article/an-overview-of-the-annotation-toolbar-6jmhwg/).

| ✅ TIP: The Annotation Toolbar shrinks and expands depending on your screen orientation or device. **Press and hold** any tool with a small **triangle** next to the icon to open a fly-out menu with additional tools.

##### Setting a shape's style

After selecting a shape tool, **touch or click** the [Style Palette](https://help.scriptation.com/en/article/using-the-style-palette-inspector-1r35re7/) icon in the Annotation Toolbar to customize the color, opacity, line thickness, line style, and other attributes of the shape:

##### Drawing the shape

Once your style is selected, use your Apple Pencil, finger, or mouse to **touch / click** and **drag** the shape to the size and dimensions you want.

##### Modifying the shape

With your shape created, **touch or click** the shape (or two-finger tap on a Mac trackpad) for a palette of additional options:

* **Move** — touch or click and hold the shape to drag it elsewhere on the page;
* **Resize** — drag the bounding points;
* **Cut / Copy** — cut or copy the shape, then touch or click anywhere on the page to display the Paste command;
* **Select More…** — add other shapes to a [group](https://help.scriptation.com/en/article/group-and-merge-notes-with-the-selection-tool-s7qo3u/) for a batch command;
* **Style Palette** — for [style adjustments](https://help.scriptation.com/en/article/using-the-style-palette-inspector-1r35re7/);
* **Save** — to make the shape a [Saved Annotation](https://help.scriptation.com/en/article/what-are-saved-annotations-and-how-do-i-use-them-1rerp7z/);
* **Layer** — to move or copy the shape to a different Layer;
* **Note** — to add an [Attached Note](https://help.scriptation.com/en/article/how-can-i-use-attached-notes-uzvs60/);
* **Trash** — to delete the shape.

##### Adding notes to shapes

**Touch** or **click** (or two-finger tap on a Mac trackpad) the shape to display the palette, then select the **Note** icon:

After typing, copy/pasting, or using [Siri](https://help.scriptation.com/en/article/how-to-use-siri-to-dictate-notes-4wzd1u/) or [Scribble](https://help.scriptation.com/en/article/using-scribble-on-ipad-vl9xrr/) to enter your note, tap **Done**:

The shape now displays a **Note** icon that holds your note:

To open the note, **touch or click** the annotation to display the palette, then touch or click the **Note** icon.
