# How do I add alternate pages to my script?

Need to keep alternate pages alongside your script? [the Page Manager](https://help.scriptation.com/en/article/what-is-the-page-manager-k7edhm/) lets you insert them anywhere, and [Master Edit Mode](https://help.scriptation.com/en/article/how-do-i-use-master-edit-mode-f5bv6c/) lets you switch which pages count as the final Native version when you're ready.

Before learning the workflow, it helps to know how Scriptation handles pages. There are two kinds:

* **Native** — Official script pages in their imported order.
* **Added / Inserted** — Pages you've added in, such as [Facing Pages](https://help.scriptation.com/en/article/how-to-add-facing-pages-to-your-script-1qh8gjs/) and pages that were [copied and pasted](https://help.scriptation.com/en/article/how-to-copy-and-paste-pages-with-the-facing-pages-tool-1m36bl1/).

### Importing the alternate pages

1. With your script file open, tap the **Page Manager icon (the four-square grid)** on the Top Toolbar:

2. Tap **Edit**:

3. Tap **Add**:

4. Tap **Select Source Document**:

5. Navigate to your alternate page(s) PDF and tap it.

|| 📝 NOTE: This window provides access to cloud folders and files which have already been imported. If your source document is in an email or another location, see [Importing and Opening Scripts in Scriptation](https://help.scriptation.com/en/article/importing-and-opening-scripts-in-scriptation-k34r8d/).

| ✅ TIP for Mac users: The Select Source Document window will be a standard macOS Finder window. To learn more about Mac file storage, see [Where are my files stored? (Mac)](https://help.scriptation.com/en/article/where-are-my-files-stored-mac-6342aa/).

6. With your file selected, tap **Add after Page**, then tap the chosen page to insert the alternate pages after.

|| 📝 NOTE: **Add after Page** inserts pages in one spot only. To add a blank page, template, or form opposite *every* script page in one step, use **Add as Facing Pages** — see [How do I add custom facing pages (images, PDFs, or blank pages)?](https://help.scriptation.com/en/article/how-do-i-add-custom-facing-pages-images-pdfs-or-blank-pages-1827zzw/). To place those pages *after* each script page instead of before, see [How do I put facing pages on the right of my script?](https://help.scriptation.com/en/article/how-do-i-put-facing-pages-on-the-right-of-my-script-t9rlbv/).

| ✅ TIP: Once inserted, the alternate pages are considered **Added / Inserted** pages by Scriptation, while the original pages remain **Native**.

7. Before performing a [Note Transfer](https://help.scriptation.com/en/article/how-do-i-transfer-my-notes-1khpcd8/), use [Master Edit Mode](https://help.scriptation.com/en/article/how-do-i-use-master-edit-mode-f5bv6c/) to reassign whichever pages become the REAL pages as **Native**, and the out-of-date pages as **Added / Inserted**.

|| 📝 NOTE: Once the out-of-date pages are reassigned, they can either remain as Added Pages within the PDF or be deleted.
