# How do I edit slates and lines?

After your slate and tramlines have been generated, touch or click individual sections (right-click on Mac) to make edits. Slates and tramlines have separate edit menus.

|| 📝 NOTE: Every time a new slate is generated, all prior slates lock automatically. To re-edit a locked slate, unlock it first (see **Lock / Unlock** below).

### Slate edit menu

Touch or click a **slate** (the small box at the top of a tramline) to display the slate toolbar:

* **Rename** — changes the slate's name or number. Text size adjusts to fit;
* **Duplicate** — makes an editable copy of the selected slate and lines;
* **Delete** — deletes the slate and all its lines;

* **Lock / Unlock** — locks or unlocks the slate to disable or enable editing.

### Tramline edit menu

Touch or click a **tramline** (the line itself) to display the tramline toolbar:

* **Line Type** — choose between Straight, Squiggle, and Dirty;
* **Split / Rejoin** — opens the Split window for fine-grained coverage edits within dialogue or action. For the full walkthrough, see [How do I split or rejoin lines?](https://help.scriptation.com/en/article/how-do-i-split-or-rejoin-lines-1utszaf/);
* **Start** — moves the entire slate to begin at the selected point;
* **End Cam** — ends the selected camera at the selected point;
* **End All** — ends all cameras at the selected point;
* **Delete Cam** — removes the selected camera from the slate;
* **Cam Color** — changes the color of the selected camera.
