# How do I export my lining as a PDF for my editor?

After a day on set, exporting the details of the shoot is easy with the dedicated **Editor Export** tool.

##### Transferring specific lined scenes between script versions

If you only need to send a handful of lined scenes to someone else (for example, a script supervisor filling in for you who only lined a few scenes), you don't need to transfer your entire script back and forth. Instead, use [How do I use Share Lining?](https://help.scriptation.com/en/article/how-do-i-use-share-lining-a9hufh/) to export a Scriptation Layer File (.slf) containing just those lined scenes. The other person imports the SLF file into their copy of the script — see [How do I import shared Lining Layers?](https://help.scriptation.com/en/article/how-do-i-import-shared-lining-layers-17fuoon/) — and once they're finished, they repeat the same steps to send their lined scenes back to you.

##### Open the Editor Export (Scriptation 6.0.0 and later)

1. Tap the **three-dot menu** (...) at the top right;
2. Tap **Export Lining**;
3. Tap **Editor Export**.

##### Open the Editor Export (legacy path)

If you're on a Scriptation version before 5.1.16:

1. Tap the **Lining** icon:

2. Tap the **...** at the top of the window, then select **Editor Export**.

##### Select scenes and export

Both paths converge here.

1. Check the circles of the scenes you want to export, then tap **OK**.

2. In the export window, the script pages corresponding to your selected scenes (and the added pages before, within, and after those scenes) are checkmarked. To make edits to the selected pages, tap the black circles. When ready, tap **Export**.

| ✅ TIP: Looking for all of your slates? If you have more than one page (layer) of slates, Editor Export will **automatically double** the script page when creating the export. All slates will appear on the export.

3. Give the new file a name. Tap **Save**.

4. Select a location to save the export, then tap **Select**. The export begins.

5. The export opens in a new tab. To adjust the document — including [rearranging](https://help.scriptation.com/en/article/what-is-the-page-manager-k7edhm/) or locking the page order — tap **Edit**. To exit, tap the Page Manager icon.

||| ⚠️ HEADS UP: Editor Export **automatically doubles** script pages to display all slates. The image below shows Scene 1 doubled.

6. To share the Editor Export, tap the **(...)** icon on the top right and tap **Quick Export**.

|| 📝 NOTE: Editor Export only exports tramlines and annotations within Lining Layers (named Lining, Lining 2, etc.). To share annotations from all layers, [merge layers of notes into the Lining Layer](https://help.scriptation.com/en/article/how-do-i-merge-notes-layers-into-lining-layers-1d2nxi0/).

|| 📝 NOTE: If you've added rewritten scene pages to your script (for example, via Copy/Paste Pages), those pages may not appear as selectable in the Editor Export scene list if Scriptation doesn't detect lining on them. Make sure any lining on added or copied/pasted pages is confirmed before exporting, or reach out to support if the pages still aren't recognized.

|| ⚠️ HEADS UP: If a Lining layer is toggled off/hidden, its tramlines and slates won't render in the export even though they're safely stored in your file. When tramlines fill a page, they continue onto Lining 2, Lining 3, etc. — make sure **every Lining layer is toggled on** before exporting so nothing is left out.

## Troubleshooting: Lines missing from export but slates still showing

If your exported PDF shows the automatic slate numbers but not the tramlines themselves, check the following:

* Confirm the layer your tramlines are on is actually named **Lining** (or **Lining 2**, etc.) — tramlines drawn on a different layer (like Notes or a general pen layer) won't be picked up by Editor Export, even though the slates from the Lining layer will still come through.
* Make sure every Lining layer is toggled visible — hidden Lining layers are excluded from the export.
* If lines are still missing after confirming the above, this may require further investigation — reach out to Support with your script file, a screen recording of your export process, and your exact Scriptation and OS versions.
