# How do I keep only my character's scenes from a large script?

Scriptation doesn't currently have a way to automatically extract only the scenes where a specific character appears into a separate script, but you can get close with a manual workflow:

1. Use [Auto-Highlight](https://help.scriptation.com/en/article/what-is-auto-highlighting-17llf2q/) to automatically highlight all of your character's dialogue throughout the script.
2. Open the **Page Manager** and select the **Sides** icon.
3. Select all pages that include your character's highlighted scenes.
4. Select **Make Sides** to export a new PDF containing only those selected pages. This opens your new Sides PDF in a new tab, which you can also use in **Playback Mode**.
5. When entering Playback Mode on the new Sides PDF, you'll be prompted to Lock Sides — select **Yes** to lock them.

See [How do I create script sides?](https://help.scriptation.com/en/article/how-do-i-create-script-sides-1rfarbu/) for more detail on the Sides workflow. This process is manual, but it lets you collect all of a character's material into a single PDF and leave the rest out.
