# How do I move or copy annotations between layers?

Move or copy any annotation to a different Layer with the **Assignment Toolbar** — tap the annotation, tap **Layers**, and pick the destination. This is especially handy when preparing a Layer to share via [Layer Export](https://help.scriptation.com/en/article/how-to-share-layers-with-export-14uqv6c/) or [Live Layers](https://help.scriptation.com/en/article/what-are-live-layers-and-how-do-i-get-set-up-1fowibn/).

1. Start by **tapping** any annotation you'd like to move or copy;

|| 📝 NOTE: To move or copy a [Note](https://help.scriptation.com/en/article/how-do-i-use-notes-w7mi38/), tap the note marker to open it, then tap the **Layers** icon in the upper-left corner.

2. From the menu, tap **Layer** to open the Assignment Toolbar:

3. By default, the top toggle is set to **Move**. To **Copy** instead, slide the toggle to Copy:

4. Tap the name of the Layer you want to move or copy the annotation to — done.

* **Move** — the annotation leaves its current Layer and appears on the new one in the same position.
* **Copy** — the annotation remains on its current Layer, and an identical copy is added to the destination Layer.
