# How do I transfer my notes?

When you receive a new draft of your script, Scriptation's **Note Transfer** moves every annotation from your previous draft to the new one — in seconds, in the right places.

Here's a common scenario. You have a draft of a script marked up with all your notes — let's call it the **Studio Draft**. *Ding* — that's your email, and the **Network Draft** just arrived. Here's how to bring all of your notes into the new draft.

1. [Open](https://help.scriptation.com/en/article/importing-and-opening-scripts-in-scriptation-k34r8d/) the **new draft** in Scriptation;
2. While in the tab for the new draft, tap the **Transfer** button on the [Top Toolbar](https://help.scriptation.com/en/article/an-overview-of-the-top-toolbar-i5y1y8/);

3. **Select the previous draft** you want to transfer your notes from. For this example, we'll select "AotTB - Studio Draft":

4. The Transfer Annotations window now appears, showing the cover pages of both the previous and new drafts, with an arrow pointing in the direction notes will be transferred.

[Industry Pro](https://help.scriptation.com/en/article/what-is-scriptation-industry-pro-1jfjecg/) users have three additional Pro Transfer options to choose from, which can be turned on with the toggle switches:

* [**Collate Pages**](https://help.scriptation.com/en/article/transferring-notes-to-a-new-set-of-pages-the-collated-pages-process-1q0eev9/) — For note transfer and integration of new page packets, when a fully collated script isn't available;
* [**Compare Scripts**](https://help.scriptation.com/en/article/how-do-i-use-compare-scripts-c6e3pc/) — Compares both drafts and generates a scene-by-scene breakdown of script changes;
* [**Transfer Bookmarks**](https://help.scriptation.com/en/article/how-do-i-transfer-my-bookmarks-to-my-new-draft-12s5493/) — Carries your Bookmarks into the new draft.

5. With your transfer selections made, tap the ${color}[#0433ff](**blue box**) (it will say **Next** or **Begin**). For users with a *single* layer of annotations, the transfer has already begun — skip to step 7.

6. Users with *multiple* [layers](https://help.scriptation.com/en/article/what-are-layers-and-how-do-i-use-them-1ozes9v/) of annotations will be taken to the Layer Selection window. Tap the checkboxes of the layer(s) you'd like to transfer, then tap **Begin**.

##### Transfer results

7. The transfer takes a couple of seconds. When it's complete, you'll see an overview of the results:

8. Tap **OK** to view a detailed summary of any [Deleted Annotations](https://help.scriptation.com/en/article/what-are-deleted-annotations-12eiwnm/) caused by the rewrites.

|| 📝 NOTE: [Auto-Highlights](https://help.scriptation.com/en/article/what-is-auto-highlighting-17llf2q/) are designed to **not** transfer — they should be toggled on fresh in the new draft. That's it — your notes are now in the new draft. Now you can make new notes on all the things that have changed!

| ✅ TIP: Seeing little yellow sticky notes on your script? Those are [Changed Annotation](https://help.scriptation.com/en/article/yellow-sticky-notes-appear-after-a-transfer-changed-annotations-21n7ch/) alerts, letting you know that script text that had annotations in the old draft has been adjusted in the new draft.
