# How do I use the Apple Pencil on iPad?

Scriptation works great with the Apple Pencil on iPad. Pair your Pencil to get pressure-sensitive lines, smooth drawing, and palm rejection for handwriting on your script.

### Using the Pencil in Scriptation

Once your Pencil is paired, a **Pencil** icon appears on the [Annotation Toolbar](https://help.scriptation.com/en/article/an-overview-of-the-annotation-toolbar-6jmhwg/). Tap it to toggle Pencil mode on or off.

### Third-party styluses

Scriptation doesn't officially support third-party styluses, but many work with Apple devices and may work in Scriptation. The best way to find out is to try yours with Scriptation's [free trial](https://apps.apple.com/us/app/scriptation-pdf-for-film-tv/id1094587086).
