How do I recover it? Deleted a script you needed? Most of the time, you can get it back. The recovery path depends entirely on where the file was stored. Find your storage type below. ### Files stored On My iPad, On My iPhone, or in iCloud → Scriptation's Recently deleted When you delete an iCloud-stored or device-stored file from inside Scriptation, it goes to Scriptation's **Recently deleted** folder. 1. Tap the **File Browser** icon on the Top Toolbar. 2. Tap the **⋯** menu at the top right and select **Recently deleted**. || 📝 NOTE: As of Scriptation 6.0, **Recently Deleted has moved out of Settings and now lives in the File Browser**. If you're on an older layout and can't find it in Settings anymore, this is why — open the File Browser, tap the **⋯** menu, and select **Recently deleted** from there instead. Tap the **⋯** next to the file you want to recover, then tap **Put Back**. ![](https://storage.crisp.chat/users/helpdesk/website/-/6/0/8/1/60818aeea8717000/filebrowsertrashputbackpng_giayh2.png =400x180) The file is restored to its original location. || 📝 NOTE: This path doesn't apply to Dropbox, Google Drive, or OneDrive files — those go straight to the cloud provider's trash. See the next section. ### Files stored on Dropbox, Google Drive, or OneDrive → your cloud provider's trash Files stored on a third-party cloud provider don't pass through Scriptation's Recently deleted folder. They go directly to the provider's web trash, where they're held for a recovery window (typically 30 days). Log in to your provider on the web and restore from there. ##### Dropbox Log in to [Dropbox.com](https://www.dropbox.com), open **Deleted files** in the left sidebar, select your file, and click **Restore**. Dropbox keeps deleted files for 30 days (or longer, depending on your plan). ##### Google Drive Log in to [Google Drive](https://drive.google.com), open **Trash** in the left sidebar, right-click your file (or tap the **⋯** menu on mobile), and select **Restore**. Google Drive keeps deleted files in Trash for 30 days. ##### OneDrive Log in to [OneDrive.com](https://www.onedrive.com), open **Recycle Bin**, select your file, and click **Restore**. OneDrive keeps deleted files for 30 days. ### Files stored locally on Mac → macOS Trash Files saved to your Mac's local file system (not synced through a cloud provider) go to the macOS **Trash** icon on the Desktop. Open Trash, locate your file, right-click, and select **Put Back** to restore it to its original location. ### iCloud fallback: check iCloud Drive's Recently Deleted If your iCloud-stored file isn't in Scriptation's Recently deleted folder, it may be in **iCloud Drive's own Recently Deleted folder**. This typically happens when: * You tapped **Delete** on Scriptation's **File Removed or Renamed** prompt; * The file was deleted from outside Scriptation (e.g. from the Files app, or from another device). iCloud Drive keeps deleted files in Recently Deleted for 30 days. Check from any of these places: ##### From iPad or iPhone 1. Open the **Files** app. 2. Tap **Browse**, then under **Locations**, tap **Recently Deleted**. 3. Find your file and tap **Recover**. ##### From any web browser Log in to [iCloud.com](https://www.icloud.com/), open **Drive**, and click **Recently Deleted** in the left sidebar. Select your file and click **Recover**. If your file still exists but you need an older version of it — for example, after a [conflicted copy](https://help.scriptation.com/en/article/i-have-a-conflicted-copy-what-do-i-do-now-uwpryx/) or after the file was opened in another PDF app — see [How do I restore an earlier version of my script?](/en/article/how-do-i-restore-an-earlier-version-of-my-script-1171koy/) for the cloud version-history recovery flow. ### Known issue: missing "Recently Deleted" button in early 6.0 builds Some early Scriptation 6.0 releases shipped with a bug where the Trash button was missing from the File Browser menu, making Recently deleted appear inaccessible. This has since been fixed — make sure you're on the latest version from the App Store (or the latest TestFlight build if you're a beta tester). If you're on an affected build and can't find the button, your files are still safe; you can either update to the latest build or temporarily roll back to an older version (e.g. via TestFlight) to access the Trash and restore your files, then update again once you've recovered them. ### Still can't find your file? If you've checked every path above and your script is still missing, use the **Send us an email** button at the bottom of this page. To speed up the investigation, please include: If a script has gone missing but you don't believe you deleted it, it's usually still recoverable. Start with these checks on your device before assuming the worst: * Open the **File Browser** (three-line icon, top-left) and look under **On My iPad** / **On My iPhone** — device-stored files only show up inside Scriptation, so they're easy to overlook if you're used to looking elsewhere. * Still in the File Browser, tap the **⋯** menu → **Recently deleted**. If it's there, tap the **⋯** next to it and choose **Put Back** — sometimes a file is deleted unintentionally (e.g. during a sync hiccup or an accidental tap) without you realizing it. * If the script was stored in iCloud, Dropbox, or another cloud, it may be sitting in that provider's trash instead — see the recovery paths above. If none of those turn it up, the most helpful next step is a short screen recording of you moving through the File Browser — **On My iPad** and **Recently deleted** — sent through the **Send us an email** button below, so we can see exactly what's on the device. ### Still can't find your file? If you've checked every path above and your script is still missing, use the **Send us an email** button at the bottom of this page.
