# I'm a Team / Team Studio Administrator. How do I deactivate a device?

### How do I deactivate a device using a Team or Team Studio License Key?

As a Team or Team Studio administrator, you may want to deactivate a device to free up that activation for a different device or user — for example, when a device is lost or no longer in use.

Here's what you need to know.

### What is a Device ID?

A **Device ID** is the unique 12-digit code (the last 12 digits of a device's Hardware ID) that identifies a device in the Team Admin Portal.

### Finding the Device ID

The user of the device whose activation you want to free up can find their Device ID in **Settings** and send it to you. See [How do I find my Device ID?](https://help.scriptation.com/en/article/how-do-i-find-my-device-id-153hpnt/) for the walkthrough.

| ✅ TIP: In Scriptation, tapping a Device ID copies it to the clipboard, making it easy to paste into an email to send to you.

### Deactivating the Device in the Team Admin Portal

1. Go to your account section of the **Team Admin Portal** in a web browser. Access information was provided in the confirmation email you received when setting up your Team or Team Studio account;

2. Navigate to **View Licenses**, then **Manage Sites**;

3. Find the row whose **Site URL** matches the last 10 digits of the Device ID you want to deactivate, then click **Deactivate Site**.
