# Scriptation keeps crashing on launch (iPad or iPhone)

If Scriptation crashes the moment it launches, the most likely fix is toggling on **Restart processes on the next launch** in your iOS Settings — start there. The other steps below cover the rarer causes if that doesn't do it.

##### 1. Reset Scriptation's launch processes (iPadOS / iOS)

This is the most common fix for a crash-on-launch. It tells iOS to spin up Scriptation's background processes cleanly on the next open.

1. Open the **Settings** app on your device.

2. Scroll the side menu all the way down. Depending on your iOS version, you'll either see Scriptation in the apps list directly, or you'll need to tap **Apps** first, then find Scriptation.

3. Tap Scriptation, then toggle on **Restart processes on the next launch**.

4. Relaunch Scriptation. The toggle resolves the issue for most users on the first try.

##### 2. Force-quit and relaunch

If step 1 didn't help, swipe Scriptation away from the App Switcher, then reopen it. A fresh launch clears transient issues.

##### 3. Restart your device

Power your iPad or iPhone fully off, then back on. When it restarts, leave other apps closed and try Scriptation on its own.

##### 4. Check for a Scriptation update

Open the [App Store](https://apps.apple.com/us/app/scriptation-pdf-for-film-tv/id1094587086) on your device and install any available update — we ship fixes frequently. Make sure [Automatic App Updates](https://help.scriptation.com/en/article/how-do-i-enable-automatic-app-updates-77ktq8/) is on so you stay current.

##### Send us a crash report

If Scriptation keeps crashing on launch after the steps above, please email us using the **Send us an email** button at the bottom of this page and include:

* Device model and iOS version;
* The [version of Scriptation](https://help.scriptation.com/en/article/current-version-and-system-requirements-1yryfi7/) you're running;
* Whether the crash happens cold (after a device restart) or only sometimes;
* Where your scripts live (iCloud, Dropbox, On My iPad, etc.).

|| 📝 NOTE: iOS keeps crash logs we can read. To grab them: open the **Settings** app on your device → **Privacy & Security** → **Analytics & Improvements** → **Analytics Data**, find entries that start with **Scriptation-**, and attach the most recent one to your email. They speed up our debugging significantly.
