# Why can't I write in my form?

If you can't type into the fields on your form, the PDF most likely isn't a true **fillable form** — a specific PDF type created in third-party apps that transforms a static document into one with editable text fields.

If Scriptation isn't recognizing form fields:

1. **Confirm Scriptation is up to date.** Open the [App Store](https://apps.apple.com/us/app/scriptation-pdf-for-film-tv/id1094587086) and make sure you're on the latest version.

2. **Confirm the PDF was created as a fillable form.** Use a fillable-PDF tool like [Adobe Acrobat](https://www.adobe.com/acrobat/how-to/create-fillable-pdf-forms-creator.html) to create the form. You can annotate any PDF within Scriptation, but a static PDF can't be made fillable from inside Scriptation — the fields have to exist when the PDF is imported.

| ✅ TIP: A fillable form's font, font size, and alignment cannot be changed within Scriptation. Adjust those in the form creator app.
