# Why isn't Live Layers working?

Two devices that aren't talking to each other, or sharing a Live Layer no one is receiving? Here are the most common fixes.

##### 1. Team license activation

Live Layers works between devices activated within the same Scriptation [Team](https://help.scriptation.com/en/article/what-is-scriptation-team-4bxf8z/) or Enterprise license. To reset your activation, [log out](https://help.scriptation.com/en/article/how-do-i-deactivate-a-team-license-h7bhw6/), then [log back in](https://help.scriptation.com/en/article/how-do-i-activate-a-team-license-1cw8ail/).

##### 2. Cloud conflict

If your team is sharing access to a cloud folder, each user should have their own separate PDF copy of the script.

Having each user annotate separate PDFs avoids [conflicted copies](https://help.scriptation.com/en/article/how-do-i-avoid-conflicted-copies-with-my-team-1gmtmmw/) (and the Live Layers connectivity block) that happens when multiple devices sync back to the cloud with different versions of the same PDF.

After [importing](https://help.scriptation.com/en/article/importing-and-opening-scripts-in-scriptation-k34r8d/) a new isolated copy of the script, [reactivate Live Layers](https://help.scriptation.com/en/article/what-are-live-layers-and-how-do-i-get-set-up-1fowibn/).

##### 3. Wrong Live Layers Group

Each team license can have any number of Live Layer Groups. When you **Select a group to join**, your device only syncs to other devices in *that* group.

In the example below, the device would sync to the Writers group only.

|| 📝 NOTE: Some Live Layers Groups are password-protected. For password credentials, ask the creator of that Layer Group. If no one knows the password, a new Layer Group will need to be created.

### Still having issues?

If you're still experiencing sync issues, reset Live Layers and create a new Group:

1. **Device 1**: Toggle off, then toggle on Live Layers, and create a **New** Layer Group;

2. **Device 2**: Toggle off, then toggle on Live Layers, and tap to **Join** the Layer Group that Device 1 just created;

3. **Device 1**: Share a new layer by tapping the **layer share icon**, then **Share Live Layer**. (The layer should be received by Device 2.);

4. **Device 2**: Share a new layer. (It should be received by Device 1.)
