How do I use Favorite Folders on Mac?

On Scriptation for Mac, you can create shortcuts to any folder for quick access to files stored on your hard drive or in the cloud.

✅ TIP: With Scriptation for Mac, files and folders aren't stored within the app — Scriptation accesses them from wherever they're already stored. For the full mental model, see Where are my files stored? (Mac).

Creating a Favorite Folder

Favorite Folders can be created from the home screen by clicking Add.

✅ TIP: With a file open, Favorite Folders can be created by clicking the File Browser and then Add.

From the Mac File Finder window, navigate to your folder and click Open. Your selected folder is now alphabetically listed in the Favorite Folders list.

✅ TIP: If a Favorite Folder is renamed or deleted, the shortcut must be recreated.

Cloud folders as Favorites

You can create shortcuts to cloud providers, just like on iOS.

After clicking Add, navigate to the appropriate cloud folder, and click Open.

📝 NOTE: iCloud automatically has a folder in Finder with a dedicated Scriptation sub-folder. Only this "Scriptation" folder syncs to iOS devices. For Google Drive, Dropbox, and OneDrive, download their desktop apps first.

Deleting a Favorite Folder shortcut

To remove a Favorite Folder shortcut (not the actual folder), click the File Browser.

Click the icon next to the Favorite Folder, then click Remove Shortcut.

📝 NOTE: To delete the folder itself and all its file contents, click Show in Finder to access the Mac File Finder window.
