How do I change the font in Playback Mode?

Since Scriptation is an annotation program, it isn't possible to change a PDF's font after it's been imported. In a film or television script, the font is usually in the Courier family. However, Playback Mode presents your script in a separate, customizable view where you can temporarily change the font type and size to optimize the display for reading aloud or rehearsing.

📝 NOTE: This setting only affects how the script appears in Playback. Your underlying PDF — including page count, layout, and the script's actual font — is unchanged. Exit Playback Mode and you'll see the original Courier formatting.

Changing the Font

  1. Touch or click the Playback icon on the Top Toolbar to enter Playback Mode;

  1. Touch the gear icon in the top-right corner to open the Playback Settings tab;

  1. Under Display, you'll find two font-related settings:

  • Font type — Choose the font Scriptation uses for playback (default: Courier Prime);
  • Font size — Set the playback font size (default: 20).

✅ TIP: There's also an Overlay setting under Display that controls how the line being read is visually emphasized — choose Highlight (grey highlight around the line) or Fade (default — slightly dims everything except the current line). See the Playback section of An Overview of the Settings Menu for the full list.
