How does my AI Voices subscription work?

AI Voices runs on a monthly minute allowance — every minute of audio Scriptation generates with an AI voice counts toward your tier's total. There are five tiers to choose from, and your usage resets each month based on when you started or last changed your subscription.

📝 NOTE: AI Voices is a separate subscription add-on, not bundled with Industry Pro. Personal and Team subscribers can sign up directly; Team Studio and Enterprise members should contact their production admin.

Subscription Tiers

There are five tiers, each with a higher monthly minute allowance:

200 minutes / month
500 minutes / month
800 minutes / month
1,100 minutes / month
1,400 minutes / month

✅ TIP: The higher tiers include bonus minutes, so they're more cost-effective per minute than the lowest tier if you're consistently using more audio. Current pricing for each tier is available in the App Store or when you sign up in Scriptation.

Checking Your Usage

Your remaining minutes for the current month are shown in the AI Subscription section of the Voices panel.

With your script open, touch the Playback icon to open Playback Mode;
Touch the waveform icon on the control bar to open the Voices panel;
You'll see your minutes used and your tier total under AI Subscription.

✅ TIP: AI usage tracks across all of your devices through your Scriptation account, so playback you start on iPad keeps counting on Mac.

When Your Minutes Reset

Your monthly allowance resets on the day of the month you started your subscription (or last changed tiers) — not on the 1st of the month.

For example, if you signed up on the 15th, your minutes reset on the 15th of every month. If you upgraded tiers on the 22nd, your new monthly cycle starts on the 22nd.

📝 NOTE: Unused minutes don't roll over to the next month — your balance resets to your full tier total each cycle.

Running Low: The 5-Minute Alert

When you have 5 minutes of audio remaining in your current cycle, Scriptation will alert you. From there you can:

Wait until your reset day to get your full allowance back;
Upgrade to a higher tier for more minutes immediately — see below.

Upgrading to a Higher Tier

You can upgrade your AI Voices tier directly from the Voices panel — the change is immediate.

In the Voices panel, tap Manage next to your minutes used under AI Subscription;
Select the new (higher) tier;
Confirm the upgrade through the App Store.

📝 NOTE: Upgrading is processed immediately, and it resets your billing cycle — your new monthly reset day becomes the day you upgrade. Any unused minutes from your previous cycle don't carry over.

Downgrading to a Lower Tier

Downgrading isn't done inside Scriptation — it has to be done through your App Store subscriptions.

On your device, open Settings → tap your Apple ID at the top → Subscriptions;
Find your Scriptation AI subscription;
Tap to change your plan, and select the lower tier.

📝 NOTE: Downgrades take effect at the start of your next billing cycle — you'll keep your current tier's minutes until then.

✅ TIP: If you only need fewer minutes for a single month, you don't need to downgrade — you can let your current tier run out, and it'll continue at the same tier the following cycle. Downgrade only if you want the lower tier going forward.
