How do I split or rejoin lines?

Using the Lining toolkit's Split and Rejoin feature, you can create extremely accurate coverage notes within any dialogue or action — and undo a split if you change your mind.

📝 NOTE: Lining Tools is an Industry Pro feature.

📝 NOTE: This video shows an older user interface but the instructions are still accurate.

Split Dialogue

  1. After generating your lines, select the part of the tramline you want to edit. Then tap Split.

  1. In the Split window, tap to place and adjust the horizontal line within the text to set where the split should occur. Select a line style for both halves, then tap Split.

  1. The tramline is now split at the placement, with the selected line styles. The parts can be controlled individually, and split again if needed.

Split Action

If a scene doesn't contain any dialogue, tramlines are created as one segment. Use Split to create individual segments as needed.

Rejoin

To undo a split and rejoin the individual parts, tap either part of the text and select Rejoin.

✅ TIP: The line style of the segment where Rejoin is tapped becomes the style for the rejoined line.
