How do I override device permissions on Scriptation Enterprise?

📝 NOTE: This article applies to Scriptation Enterprise — the subscription tier for studios managing devices, permissions, and onboarding at scale. The free and Industry Pro consumer tiers don't include a web-based Admin Portal.

As an Enterprise Admin, you can override the permissions set at Enterprise or Production level for any individual device — useful when one user on a locked-down production needs an exception.

📝 NOTE: For the permissions hierarchy and how overrides interact with broader settings, see Roles and permissions in Scriptation Enterprise.

⚠️ HEADS UP: Any permission change forces a restart of Scriptation on the affected device. The user sees a prompt to restart the app — they can't continue working until they do.

Opening a device's permissions

  1. Sign in to the Enterprise Admin Portal.

  1. Click Productions in the side menu.

  1. Click the production name that contains the device you want to override.

  1. In the row of the device, click the three dots () under the Actions column.

  1. Click Permissions.

Overriding a permission

  1. Under the permission you want to override, click Override.

  1. Click Yes, override!

  1. Click Save, then OK.

Un-overriding a permission

To send a device back to following the broader Enterprise or Production settings:

  1. Follow steps 1–5 above to open the device's permissions.

  1. Under the permission you want to un-override, click Un-override.

  1. Click Yes, un-override!

  1. Click Save, then OK.
