How do I set permissions on Scriptation Enterprise?

📝 NOTE: This article applies to Scriptation Enterprise — the subscription tier for studios managing devices, permissions, and onboarding at scale. The free and Industry Pro consumer tiers don't include a web-based Admin Portal.

Scriptation Enterprise lets you set permissions at three levels: across the whole Enterprise, for a single production, or for an individual device. More specific scopes override broader ones — so a Device permission beats a Production permission, which beats the Enterprise default.

📝 NOTE: For the full permissions model — how the three levels stack and override each other — see Roles and permissions in Scriptation Enterprise.

⚠️ HEADS UP: Any permission change forces a restart of Scriptation on every device in scope. Users see a prompt to restart the app — they can't continue working until they do.

Setting Enterprise permissions

Sets the default for every production and device in your Enterprise. Enterprise Admins only.

  1. Sign in to the Enterprise Admin Portal.

  1. Click Productions in the side menu.

  1. Click Permissions in the upper bar.

  1. Set each permission to your desired default, then click Save.

  1. Click OK to confirm.

Setting Production permissions

Overrides the Enterprise defaults for a single production. Enterprise Admins and Production Admins.

  1. Sign in to the Enterprise Admin Portal.

  1. Click Productions in the side menu.

  1. Open the production's permissions:
  • As an Enterprise Admin: in the row of the production you want to modify, click the three dots () under the Actions column, then click Permissions.

  • As a Production Admin: click the production name to open it, then click Permissions in the upper bar.

  1. Set each permission to your desired value for the production, then click Save.

  1. Click OK to confirm.

Setting Device permissions

Overrides both Enterprise and Production permissions for a single device. Enterprise Admins only.

  1. Sign in to the Enterprise Admin Portal.

  1. Click Productions in the side menu.

  1. Click the production name that contains the device.

  1. In the row of the device you want to modify, click the three dots () under the Actions column.

  1. Click Permissions.

  1. Set each permission to your desired value for the device, then click Save.

  1. Click OK to confirm.

✅ TIP: Setting a Device permission is technically a one-step "override" — once set, that Device permission takes precedence over the Production and Enterprise levels. To revert and have the device follow Production/Enterprise rules again, see How do I override device permissions on Scriptation Enterprise?.
