How do I set up a self-tape session?
We recommend these settings to easily record your line readings for learning, rehearsing or creating an audition video.
NOTE that this Record feature is not available in the free version of Scriptation. For more information on upgrading to Industry Pro, click HERE.
Open the script;
From the Top Toolbar, choose Record.
NOTE that if the Record icon isn't showing in the Top Toolbar, learn to customize your Top Toolbar to show the Record tool.
Now that you're in Record mode, select the Settings icon at the upper left (it looks like a gear).
Adjust the font family and size to view from a distance.
In the Settings section, set Action Lines to Off, Dialogue to Voice and all others to View.
Select the Voices icon at the upper left (it looks like a person with sound waves).
Select your character and toggle on Rehearse as this character;
If you want your character's dialogue to be highlighted on the page, set the toggle to on and use the color picker to select the highlight color.
Select the caret to return to the Voices list.
Select each character to adjust their voice, speaking rate, pitch, and volume.
Towards the bottom of the screen is a drag handle; drag this up to display additional Record settings. For more on these settings, check out this article.
When you're ready to roll, press the red Record button in the middle.
Aaaaand.... ACTION!
