How do I share my lining layer with a collaborator?

If multiple users are collaborating on Lining, sharing your tramlines as a Layer File (.slf) lets collaborators import them into their own copy of the script.

📝 NOTE: Lining Tools is an Industry Pro feature.

📝 NOTE: This video shows a slightly older user interface but the instructions are still accurate.

Export Lining as a Layer file (Scriptation 6.0.0 and later)

  1. Tap the three-dot menu (...) at the top right;
  2. Tap Export Lining;
  3. Tap Layer File.

Open Share Lining (legacy path)

If you're on a Scriptation version before 5.1.16:

  1. Tap the Lining icon:

  1. Tap the ... at the top of the window, then select Share Lining.

Select scenes and share

Both paths converge here.

  1. Check the boxes of the scenes you want to share, then tap OK.

📝 NOTE: Only scenes that have had lines generated through the Lining toolkit can be selected for sharing.

  1. From the thumbnail view, the script pages corresponding to your selected scenes (and the added pages before, within, and after) are checked. To edit the selected added pages, tap the black circles. When ready, tap Share.

✅ TIP: Looking for all of your slates? If you have more than one page (layer) of slates, the thumbnail view only shows the active Lining Layer. All slates, across all Lining Layers, will be shared for the selected scenes.

📝 NOTE: The scene selector determines the slates that are shared, even if additional script pages are selected in the thumbnail view.

  1. Select a sharing method. You can share your Scriptation Layer file (.slf) via Mail, Gmail, AirDrop, or any messaging app that supports file attachments.

The recipient can then import the file into their own copy of the script.

📝 NOTE: Share Lining only exports tramlines and annotations within Lining Layers (named Lining, Lining 2, etc.). To share annotations within standard layers, see How to Share Layers with Export. To share the complete original file, see How to share notes or email a file.
