Is my script private when using Analyze?

Is my script private when using Analyze?

Yes. When Scriptation runs Analyze, the two scripts being compared are sent to OpenAI's API to generate the summary — and OpenAI is contractually barred from using what's sent to train AI models. Inputs and outputs are briefly retained for abuse detection (up to 30 days), then deleted. Scriptation doesn't keep a copy on our servers either.

What gets sent

When you tap Analyze, Scriptation first runs a diff analysis of the scripts you've selected to flag any scenes that have changed. Then, it sends the full text of those changed scenes to OpenAI's API for comparison. The returned analysis comes back to your device and is saved as a new PDF file on it.

We do not send:

  • Your annotations, notes, drawings, or layers;
  • File names or file metadata;
  • Personally identifiable information about you.

What OpenAI does (and doesn't do) with it

Scriptation's Analyze tool is powered by OpenAI's API. Per OpenAI's published policy:

  • Not used to train AI models. Since March 1, 2023, OpenAI does not use data sent through the API to train or improve its models;
  • Briefly retained for abuse detection. OpenAI may securely retain API inputs and outputs for up to 30 days to identify abuse, then deletes them — unless legally required to retain them longer;
  • No use for ads or other services. Standard OpenAI business commitment.

What Scriptation does (and doesn't do) with it

Scriptation does not store your scripts on our servers. The analysis document Analyze creates is saved to your device (or your selected cloud storage location) just like any other Scriptation file — you control where it lives and who you share it with.

Prefer not to use AI at all?

Analyze requires an internet connection to reach OpenAI's service. If you'd rather no AI cloud service is involved, Scriptation's Compare Scripts tool generates a scene-by-scene text diff entirely on your device — no third-party AI service is contacted.

Team Studio and Enterprise

Productions using Team Studio and Enterprise licenses don't currently have access to Analyze. If your production has additional security requirements beyond what's described above, please reach out to your production administrator or contact Scriptation Support.
