Is Scriptation available for Windows or Android?
Scriptation is Apple-only. The app is available on iPad, iPhone, and Mac through the App Store.
Android
There is no Android version of Scriptation today — the app isn't available for Android tablets, Android phones, Chromebooks, or Samsung devices.
If an Android version is something you'd want, please add your vote on our Feature Request Board — that's where we prioritize what to build next, and upvotes genuinely help.
Windows
There is no current Windows version of Scriptation. A legacy Windows desktop app existed years ago, but Scriptation for Windows was sunsetted on March 1, 2021, and the installer is no longer available.
If you still have the legacy Windows app installed
You can continue to use it on devices where it's already installed. A few things to know:
- The installer is no longer available. If you uninstall it or move to a new Windows machine, there's no way to reinstall it.
- The legacy Windows app can't be copied to or run on an iPad, iPhone, or Mac. To use Scriptation on Apple devices, download the current app from the App Store.
- Subscriptions don't carry over between the two platforms. App Store and Microsoft Store handle purchases separately — if you want Industry Pro features on Apple, you'll need to subscribe through the App Store.
- Cloud Sync between Windows and Apple isn't supported. To share files between your legacy Windows install and your Apple devices, upgrade the Apple devices to Industry Pro and set up Cloud Sync on the Apple side — then move files manually from Windows.
What the Windows app was missing
The legacy Windows app shipped with only the basics: Annotation Tools, Actor Highlighting (now Auto-Highlight), and Note Transfer. Five years of Apple-only development have added Layers, Reader Mode, Compare Scripts, Sides Creator, Shareable Layers, Lining Tools, Live Layers, Tagging, and a lot more.
Why Apple-only?
Scriptation is built natively for iPadOS, iOS, and macOS — leaning into Apple Pencil, system-level integrations, and Apple's annotation frameworks. That focus is what makes the day-to-day annotation experience feel right for film and television production. Cross-platform parity isn't currently on the roadmap.
