Tagging Sync? What does it mean to update your tag colors?

Scriptation offers Tagging Sync so that you can work in the category color palette that works best for you on your device — especially handy when you're collaborating with team members on the same script. You'll see a Tagging Sync prompt in three situations:

Updating the color of a category;
Tapping or clicking the warning icon in the Tagging customization view;
Opening a script that was created with a different set of category colors.

📝 NOTE: Tagging category colors are stored per-device, so you'll need to update all devices with new color choices if you want the same palette without syncing each time. To share your color set across devices or with collaborators, see How do I share Tagging Customizations with other devices?.

✅ TIP: In Scriptation 6.0, category colors are edited from the Tagging tab in Settings. You can reach it from either the Customize button in Tagging Mode or the three-dot menu (⋯) → Settings → Tagging — both open the same modal. The sync prompts and warning icon described below show up in the Tagging customization view.

When You'll See a Tagging Sync Prompt

Updating the color of a category

If your document already contains tags in a category and you change the color of that category, you'll see this prompt:

Yes — updates the color of all existing tags in any category that don't match your device's customized colors;
No — leaves the tags out of sync with your category colors and shows a warning icon in the upper-left of the Tagging customization view.

Tapping or clicking the warning icon in the Tagging customization view

If your document contains tags in a color that doesn't match your device's category color selections, a warning icon appears. Tapping or clicking that icon displays:

Yes — updates the color of all existing tags in any category that don't match your device's customized colors;
No — leaves all existing tags out of sync, and the warning icon remains in the upper-left of the Tagging customization view.

Opening a script with a different set of category colors

If you open a document with any tags that are out of sync with your current category colors on this device, you'll see:

Yes — updates the color of all existing tags in any category that don't match your device's customized colors;
No — leaves all existing tags out of sync, and a warning icon appears in the upper-left of the Tagging customization view.
