How do I manually push a file to my cloud?

Most of the time, Scriptation syncs your files to the cloud automatically — but if a file isn't showing up on another device, or a recent change hasn't made it across yet, you can manually push the sync yourself. This works across all of our supported cloud services: iCloud, Dropbox, Google Drive, and OneDrive.

📝 NOTE: Manual sync is a great first step whenever a file looks out of date or is missing on a second device. It forces Scriptation to push the latest version up to the cloud and pull down anything new.

How to manually sync a file to the cloud

  1. Open Scriptation and navigate to your cloud folder (iCloud, Dropbox, Google Drive, or OneDrive);
  2. Find the script file you want to sync;
  3. Tap or click the three dots (⋯) next to the file;
  4. Select Sync to [Cloud] (for example, Sync to iCloud or Sync to Dropbox);
  5. Wait a few moments for the sync to complete.

Once the sync finishes, your file should be up to date in the cloud and available on any other device signed in to the same account.

✅ TIP: Before you push a sync, make sure the file is closed on any other device. Scriptation can't sync a file that's currently open somewhere else.

When to use this

Manually syncing is useful any time you want to confirm a file is fully pushed to the cloud, including:

  • A file you just edited isn't appearing on your other device;
  • A file shows up on one device but not another;
  • You're about to switch devices and want to make sure your latest changes are uploaded;
  • Auto-sync seems to be stuck or delayed.

If you've tried a manual sync and the file still isn't appearing on your other device, there may be a deeper sync issue with your cloud provider or account setup. Check the related articles below for next steps.

A quick reminder about how sync works

Scriptation syncs files automatically in the background, but it doesn't sync a file that's currently open on another device. Always close a script on one device before opening it on another — otherwise, your changes may not transfer correctly.
