How often do files upload / sync to cloud?
How often are files uploaded to the cloud?
Using cloud storage is definitely the best way to get the most out of Scriptation. If you are an Industry Pro user, and haven't already set it up, it's easy to sync to the cloud.
iPad / iPhone
NOTE: There is a distinction between saving and syncing. On iOS, Scriptation automatically saves locally to your device after every single annotation is made.
Scriptation automatically syncs to the cloud either:
Every time you change tabs
Every time you close the document
In the unlikely event of an iOS crash, if your script had annotations that did not yet sync to the cloud provider, when you reopen the file on your iOS device, all of your notes will still be there!
NOTE: There is a distinction between saving and syncing. On Mac, Scriptation automatically saves locally every 5 minutes, or after certain major actions are completed, such as changing tabs.
Syncing to the cloud works like this:
On your Mac, your file is uploaded to whichever cloud service the file is saved to, anytime you manually save the file.
To do this, just click File, then Save. (Or keyboard shortcut: CMD + S.)
In the unlikely event of a macOS crash, if your script had annotations that did not yet sync to the cloud provider, when you reopen the file on your macOS device, all of your notes made before the last automatic save will still be there!
What about conflicted copies?
While it's always best to be working on a live file on one device at a time, sometimes files are open on multiple devices.
Scriptation is designed to alert one device when changes have been synced from another.
However, if two devices find themselves in conflict, perhaps due to a connectivity issue, a conflicted copy will be created. No data will be deleted - there will just be two files. To combine, copy / paste the annotations from one file into the other.
