How do I restore an earlier version of my script?

If your script still exists but you need an earlier version of it — for example, after a conflicted copy, an accidental overwrite, or after the file was opened in another PDF app — Dropbox, Google Drive, and OneDrive all keep file version history. Log in to your cloud provider on the web, find the version from before things went wrong, and restore it.

Restore an earlier version from your cloud provider

⚠️ HEADS UP: Files stored in iCloud Drive or On My iPad / On My iPhone don't have file version history. Neither location stores older versions of your files, so there's no way to roll back to a previous state from these storage types. The only recovery path is the Recently Deleted folder — iCloud Drive's Recently Deleted for iCloud files, or Scriptation's Recently deleted for On My iPad / iPhone files — and only if an older copy was deleted at some point.

💡 TIP: For production work we recommend Dropbox. It has the most reliable file version history and the cleanest restore flow.
