I can't Import Screenshots or Images using the Photo Annotation Tool. Help!
If the Photo tool on the Annotation Toolbar can't import your screenshots or images, the most common cause is the iOS screenshot bug — a freshly taken screenshot doesn't always appear in the photo picker until it's been re-saved. Re-saving the screenshot (via Markup or a quick edit) almost always fixes it.
Workaround 1: Re-save the screenshot
The fastest fix:
- Add a Markup to it. Open the screenshot in Photos, tap Edit, tap the Markup icon, then tap Done. This re-saves the file in a way the photo picker can see immediately.
- Or do a quick edit. Crop, rotate, or apply a filter and save — same effect.
Re-open Scriptation, tap the Photo tool on the Annotation Toolbar, and the screenshot should now appear in the picker.
Workaround 2: Force-quit and try again
If the picker isn't showing recent photos at all, the picker itself may be glitching. Force-quit Scriptation (swipe up from the App Switcher), reopen the app, and try the Photo tool again.
Workaround 3: Make sure Scriptation is up to date
Photo picker behavior changes across iOS releases, and we often ship updates to keep pace. Open the App Store and install any available Scriptation update.
Still stuck?
If none of the workarounds resolve it, contact us via the Send us an email button at the bottom of this page. Include your iOS version and Scriptation version.
