I have an older version of Scriptation. Will it work with Scriptation 5?

There will most likely be issues if you send a script back and forth between Scriptation 4.6.10 and older and Scriptation 5.0 and later.

The older versions are not able to correctly process layers created in later versions and there may also be other kinds of content that's problematic. We did quite a bit of work to ensure that older builds work with newer builds, but the last version we could make work fully backwards-compatible was 4.6.11.

If you have the script opened in an older version and, while in the Layers tool, you don't see any layers containing annotations that you know should be there, duplicate any layers that are there. One or more of these layers, when duplicated, may generate a Lost Layer which may have your missing annotations. Please see this article for more information on retrieving content from Lost Layers.

If you're not able to recover your annotations from Lost Layers, please email us by clicking the blue button at the bottom right corner of the screen. You can attach the script to a reply to this email, along with an explanation of the situation, and we'll do our best to get your work back for you.

If you have an older version on one device and a newer version on another device, we recommend that you avoid sharing Scriptation files between the two. You can of course continue to use Scriptation on both and as long as you don't share the files, there should be no problems. But sending files back and forth between the old version and the new version will result in compatibility issues that we unfortunately can't do much about.
