How do I create script sides?

📝 NOTE: This video shows a slightly older user interface, but the instructions are still accurate.


Build a Sides file from any pages in your script using the Page Manager — perfect for table reads, auditions, or shoot-day prep.


📝 NOTE: The Page Manager and Sides are Industry Pro features.


  1. Tap the Page Manager icon (the four-square grid) on the Top Toolbar:



  1. Tap Sides to open the Sides tool:



  1. Tap the pages you want in the sides file. When you're ready, tap Make:



  1. Enter a name for the new sides file and save it:


📝 NOTE: Creating Sides doesn't alter the original document.



  1. A file window opens. Choose the folder for your sides file and tap Select.


  1. Once saved, your sides file opens in a new tab:



Locking Sides


  1. Tap Edit:



  1. To rearrange pages, touch / click + drag them into the desired order:



  1. When the pages are in the right order, tap Lock. Locking ensures Scriptation recognizes your sides file as "Native" script pages. If you need to rearrange later, tap Unlock first.


✅ TIP: To use Auto-Highlight or Lining on Sides, the PDF must be locked. See Using Auto-Highlight in Sides for details.



  1. When you're done, tap Save.
