How do I include dialogue numbering (and other info layers) in my Editor Exports?

Info Layers — like Dialogue Numbers, 8th Page Counts, Large Scene Numbers, Scene Dividers, and Revision Colors — are auto-generated and aren't included in Editor Exports by default. To get them into your export for post, you need to duplicate the Info Layer (which makes it editable) and merge that copy into your first Lining layer.

📝 NOTE: Info Layers and Lining Tools are Industry Pro features.

Why Info Layers aren't in Editor Exports by default

Info Layers regenerate automatically when your script changes — so their annotations aren't "real" until you make them editable. Editor Export only exports content inside Lining layers (Lining, Lining 2, etc.). To include Info Layer content in an export, the Info Layer first has to become an editable layer, then get merged into a Lining layer.

Step-by-step

  1. Tap Layers on the Top Toolbar.

  1. Under the Info Layers section, find the layer you want (for example, Dialogue Numbers). Next to it is a boxed plus icon, [ + ]. Tap it. When prompted with "Copy Info Layer," tap Yes.

The duplicated Info Layer now appears under My Layers as your active layer, and the auto-generated version is toggled off. The duplicate is editable like any other layer.

  1. Merge the duplicate into your first Lining layer. Follow the steps in How do I merge layers into Lining?

⚠️ HEADS UP: Merging can't be undone. If you have multiple Lining layers (Lining, Lining 2, Lining 3, etc.) and want the Info Layer content in each, make a separate copy of the Info Layer for each Lining layer before merging.

  1. Run your Editor Export normally. The Info Layer content is now part of your Lining layer, so it'll appear in the export.

✅ TIP: If you adjust an Info Layer's settings after duplicating, the changes apply only to the auto-generated version — not your editable copy. To apply updated styling to the export, regenerate the Info Layer and duplicate it again.

Doing this for multiple Info Layers

You can repeat the duplicate-and-merge workflow for any of the 5 Info Layers:

  • Dialogue Numbers — line numbers next to each dialogue line;
  • 8th Page Counts — scene length in eighths of a page;
  • Large Scene Numbers — oversized scene numbers for quick reference;
  • Scene Dividers — visual separators between scenes;
  • Revision Colors — color blocks for revision pages.

Each one becomes part of your Editor Export once it's been duplicated and merged into a Lining layer.
