What are Info Layers, and how do I use them?
Want to view more of your script's information at a glance? Info Layers are here to help.
Info Layers save you time by making it easier to navigate your script and can accelerate your script breakdown process.
Imagine you're a script supervisor on set, and the director suddenly asks, "How long is scene A37 from the latest goldenrod revisions sent out earlier this morning?"
With Info Layers, you're able to quickly generate:
- Revision Colors to help you visually scan for the goldenrod pages;
- Large Scene Numbers and Scene Dividers to make scene A37 visible from a bird's-eye view; and
- 8th Page Counts and Dialogue Numbers to give you the answer in two different measurements.
With the information at your fingertips, you can swiftly provide the answer in less than 5 seconds.

How to Turn on Info Layers
With your script already open, tap Layers on the Top Toolbar.

In the Layers side panel and underneath the My Layers section, you'll find the Info Layers section. There are 5 different Info Layers available, each with their own toggle. Toggling one on automatically generates that layer's information as annotations in your script.
The five Info Layers are — each with its own dedicated article covering turn-on steps and customization:
- Revision Colors — Adds the revision colors to your script based on the color notated on each page's header;
- Large Scene Numbers — Finds each scene header and places a larger scene number over the left-side number;
- Scene Dividers — Places a line at the beginning of each scene to visually separate it from the next;
- 8th Page Counts — Measures every scene in eighths of a page and adds the length to either the top or bottom of each scene;
- Dialogue Numbers — Counts the total number of dialogue lines and places the corresponding number or letter next to each one.

Saving Your Info Layers Settings
Every time you exit the Layers settings menu after customizing the appearance of an Info Layer, you'll be prompted whether to sync those changes. Doing so will apply your customizations to your active Info Layers.

Need to edit an Info Layer?
Info Layers are regenerated automatically when your script changes — so they aren't editable by default. To edit one, you'll duplicate it first to create an editable copy. See
How do I edit Info Layers? for the full walkthrough.
