How do I take a screenshot or screen recording?
Screenshots and screen recordings are how to capture what's happening on your screen — useful for sending us a bug report or showing us what you're seeing.
Take a screenshot
- iPad or iPhone with Face ID: Press the top button and volume up button at the same time, then release.
- iPad or iPhone with a Home button: Press the top (or side) button and the Home button at the same time, then release.
- Mac: Press Shift + Command + 3 (whole screen) or Shift + Command + 4 (drag to select an area).

Record your screen
Screen recordings are best when the issue plays out over time — a crash sequence, a tap that triggers unexpected behavior, or anything that's easier to show than to describe.
- iPad or iPhone: Add Screen Recording to Control Center (Settings → Control Center → tap the + next to Screen Recording). Then open Control Center, tap the Record button (●), wait three seconds, and capture what you need. Tap the red status bar (or Record button again) to stop. The recording saves to your Photos app.
- Mac: Press Shift + Command + 5 to open the Screenshot toolbar. Choose Record Entire Screen or Record Selected Portion, then click Record. Click the Stop button in the menu bar when you're done.
