What is Layer Optimization?

Layer Optimization is a quick file-compression process that minimizes document size — saving space on your device and keeping Scriptation running quickly, especially in scripts with many Layers and annotations.

📝 NOTE: Optimization doesn't change anything inside your document — it's purely file compression. Your annotations and Layers remain exactly as they were.

How to run a Layer Optimization

Layer Optimization lives in the Layers section of the Settings modal, which you can reach two ways. Both paths land in the same place.

Path 1: From the Layers sidebar

  1. Tap the Layers icon on the Top Toolbar to open the Layers sidebar;
  2. Tap the 3-dot menu at the upper right of the sidebar and choose Settings;
  3. In the Settings modal (which opens to the Layers tab), find Optimize layers and tap Start.

Path 2: From the main Settings modal

  1. Tap the three-dot menu () at the top-right of the screen and choose Settings;
  2. Open the Layers tab;
  3. Find Optimize layers and tap Start.

Optimization usually takes well under a minute — exact timing depends on how many annotations and Layers your document has.
