Where are my files stored? (iPad, iPhone)

Scriptation stores files locally by default. You can also connect cloud storage services to access files across devices.

Default: On My iPad / iPhone

To access your files in Scriptation, tap the File Browser — the three-line icon at the top-left of the screen.

The default save-to location is Scriptation's On my iPad / iPhone directory.

📝 NOTE: Files saved in On my iPad / iPhone are accessible only through Scriptation's File Browser. They won't appear in the iOS Files app or any other file management program.

📝 NOTE: If you're looking for a specific file, check On My iPad / iPhone first — device-stored files only show up inside Scriptation, so they're easy to overlook. You can also check the Recent Files view, and if a file appears to be missing entirely, check the menu in the File Browser for Recently deleted.

⚠️ IMPORTANT: The in-app search bar only searches filenames within the currently open folder — it does not search across all your folders or connections. If you can't find a file this way, it's faster to search directly within your cloud storage provider's own app or website, then follow that same folder path within Scriptation to locate the file there.

Connecting to Cloud Storage

Scriptation has built-in support for Dropbox, Google Drive, iCloud, and OneDrive.

iCloud is part of the operating system and will already be set up. To add Dropbox, Google Drive, or OneDrive:

  1. Open the File Browser;
  2. Tap Add Connection;
  3. Sign in to your account in the window that opens.

📝 NOTE: Because iCloud is Apple's native cloud storage solution, you can also manage your iCloud-connected Scriptation files directly from the iOS Files app: open Files, navigate to iCloud Drive, then select the Scriptation folder. This can be a useful workaround if you ever run into an issue managing those folders from within Scriptation itself.
