How to sync files across devices with Cloud Storage

Connect Scriptation to a cloud provider — Dropbox, Google Drive, OneDrive, or iCloud — and your scripts and notes sync automatically across your iPad, iPhone, and Mac.

📝 NOTE: This video shows a slightly older user interface, but the instructions are still accurate.

📝 NOTE: Cloud Storage is an Industry Pro feature.

✅ TIP: Only files stored inside one of your connected cloud folders will sync across devices. Files in On My iPad / On My iPhone, on the Desktop, or in the Downloads folder won't sync.

✅ TIP: Although iCloud works well, Dropbox, Google Drive, and OneDrive offer version-controlled saving, which creates a new restorable copy after every save. iCloud doesn't offer this backup.

📝 NOTE: Scriptation doesn't have its own server that syncs your files — that's handled by your chosen cloud provider.

Cloud setup on iPad / iPhone

Touch the File Browser icon on the Top Toolbar:

For iCloud, you're already logged in via your Apple ID — see How do I sync with iCloud cloud storage? for setup.

For Dropbox, Google Drive, and OneDrive, tap Add Connection:

Select a cloud provider and sign in with that account's username and password. You can add as many cloud connections as you need.

Your files and annotations save to whichever location you choose. To use the same files on another device, sign in to the same cloud account there.

For step-by-step setup of each provider, see:

Next, move or copy your local files into your cloud folder so they're available across devices.

Cloud setup on Mac

On Mac, there's no additional sign-in inside Scriptation. If you use Dropbox, Google Drive, OneDrive, or iCloud, your folders are visible after clicking Select File from the Scriptation for Mac home screen.

📝 NOTE: On Mac, third-party apps like Dropbox, Google Drive, and OneDrive need to be downloaded from their respective websites first.

By navigating through the Finder window, you can access all of your cloud folders:

iCloud dedicated folder

Scriptation automatically creates a folder inside iCloud Drive — this is where all of your Scriptation files sync. If you use Scriptation for Mac with iCloud, store your files inside the Scriptation folder in iCloud Drive.

⚠️ DON'T FORGET: If your scripts are saved locally (Desktop, Downloads, etc.), you won't be able to access them on other devices. Move the files into one of your cloud folders.
