I opened my Scriptation PDF in another app and lost my notes. Help!

All of my annotations disappeared after opening my script in another app…

Because Scriptation provides advanced layering abilities and maintains the ability to transfer to each new draft, we do not recommend you open or edit Scriptation PDFs in other apps. However, if you find yourself in a situation where this has caused your annotations to not be visible in Scriptation, below is the first step to try to recover the annotations.

WARNING: these steps do not work in every situation, so to avoid losing annotations, please edit Scriptation documents only in Scriptation.

Before you do any troubleshooting steps, we recommend you make a copy of the original file.

Duplicate any layer that you already have in the document.

Delete the layer created from the duplication.

If the annotations are still recoverable, a new layer should be created, and it will be called “LOST LAYER.” If you have had multiple layers before, you may see various LOST LAYERS.

These LOST LAYERS should contain the annotations that were not visible after opening the document in a different application.
