Scriptation doesn’t work after updating to MacOS 26 (Tahoe)!

macOS 26 - Tahoe - Update Required

Much of Scriptation’s interface and features prior to version 5.1.2 aren’t compatible with macOS 26 (Tahoe). If you have updated your Mac’s operating system to OS 26, you will need to update to the latest version of Scriptation (starting with 5.1.2).

To update, go to the Scriptation Page in the App Store and click Update.

⚠️ Caution: If you are currently on macOS 15 (Sequoia), we recommend waiting at least a month before updating your Mac to Tahoe (OS 26). This will ensure the best Scriptation experience that won’t introduce any potential interruptions to your current work.

💡 TIP: Not sure what the latest version and system requirements are? You can always check our Current Version and System Requirements article for the most up-to-date information!

Additionally, there are several known issues in 5.1.2 that we are actively working on fixing as quickly as possible. If you discover a bug that isn't listed below or need assistance after upgrading to macOS Tahoe 26, feel free to let us know by submitting a bug report to our development roadmap or by emailing support@scriptation.com!

Known Issues specific to Mac OS Tahoe 26 users

  • Annotations: The options within style palettes and inspector popovers for annotations in the Annotation Toolbar— which allow you to set colors and color presets, fonts, line styles, thickness and opacity, and arrange annotations— don’t fit inside their windows. This issue does affect functionality, and we are rapidly working on a fix for this. We recommend performing those annotations in Scriptation on an iPhone or iPad until this is addressed in a future release.

  • Auto Highlight: When saving your character color presets in Auto Highlight, checkmarks won’t visually update until they are reloaded by scrolling them out of view first. Even if you don’t see the immediate change, the selection (or deselection) will still save. This doesn’t affect any ability to use the app and will be addressed in a future release.

  • Top Toolbar: When customizing the Top Toolbar, if a tool that was previously shown is now hidden from the top toolbar, it loses its label in the more (+) popover. However, the tool’s icon will still be visible and can be selected, and relaunching Scriptation will also restore the labels in the more (+) popover. This will be addressed in a future release.

  • Top Toolbar: When closing a menu because of an action (for example, when changing layers or documents), the toolbar will briefly “jump” and the icons will quickly disappear and reappear. This doesn’t affect any ability to use the app and will be addressed in a future release.

  • Read, Rehearse, or Record: Starting a tour when opening either Read, Rehearse, or Record modes for the first time will cause the app to get stuck without any options to exit the tour. Relaunching Scriptation will resolve this issue, and this will be addressed in a future release.

  • Bookmark and Annotation Outlines: The bookmark and annotation outlines popover extends from the left side of the window instead of its icon. This doesn’t affect any ability to use the app and will be addressed in a future release.

  • Lining: In dark mode, each scene and character selection item within the Lining sidebar has a grey stripe running through it. This doesn’t affect any ability to use the app and will be addressed in a future release.
