How do I add page counts to my script?

To add page counts, turn on the 8th Page Counts Info Layer in the Layers panel. Scriptation measures every scene in eighths of a page and adds the count to the top or bottom of each scene.

Turn on page counts

With your script open, tap Layers on the Top Toolbar;

Under Info Layers, turn on 8th Page Counts.

The same counts appear as Scene Page Counts in Tagging reports and in exports to Cinapse, Shamel Studio, Think Crew, and SetHero.

Customize page counts

Tap Settings at the bottom of the Layers panel to change:

Location — Top of Scene or Bottom of Scene;
Color — Black, Red, or Blue.

Edit a page count

To change a count by hand, make an editable copy of the layer:

In the Layers panel, tap the boxed plus icon ([ + ]) next to 8th Page Counts, then tap Yes to copy it;
The copy appears under My Layers — edit any count like a normal annotation.

📝 NOTE: Your copy won't update when the script changes. For a new draft, delete the old copy and duplicate the layer again.

How accurate are the counts?

Counts are based on the lines of text Scriptation detects in each scene, not on the page size or printed page numbers. Use them as a starting estimate — they may differ from your AD's boards, especially once A-pages are added.

Every scene should be at least 1/8. If you see 0/8, or counts that are consistently off, use the Send us an email button at the bottom of this page and include the scene numbers and your script file — see How can I share my file with Scriptation's Support team?
