I have an Industry Pro subscription, and I'm being asked to upgrade. Help!
If you've got an active Industry Pro subscription but Scriptation is asking you to upgrade — when accessing a Pro feature, or after opening more than three documents — your App Store subscription has lost its connection to Scriptation. Restore Purchases reconnects it in seconds.
This usually happens after an OS or app update. Thankfully, fixing it is quick.
How to reconnect your Industry Pro subscription
Method #1: Update Scriptation
As is the case with most bugs, updating Scriptation will often resolve the issue. Visit the Scriptation page on the App Store and select Update to install the latest version.
Method #2: Use Restore Purchases
If updating doesn't reconnect your subscription — or if you'd prefer to stay on your current version — use Restore Purchases.
In Scriptation 6.0 and later:
- Tap the three-dot menu (⋯) at the top-right and select Settings;
- Go to the Account tab;
- Under Subscription Actions, tap Restore purchases.

In Scriptation 5.1.16 and earlier:
- Open the File Browser (☰) at the upper left and tap Settings;
- Touch or click Upgrade to open the upgrade window;
- Scroll to the bottom and select Restore Purchases.

Restore Purchases reestablishes the connection between your App Store subscription and Scriptation on the affected device.
Still having trouble?
A few things to check if Restore Purchases doesn't fix it:
- Confirm your subscription is active — see How do I check my subscription status?;
- Confirm every device is signed in with the same Apple ID — see How do I check which Apple ID is logged into my device?;
- Power both devices off and back on — the device giving the error and the device where you originally bought Scriptation — then try Restore Purchases again.
If none of those resolve it, please use the "Send us an email" button at the bottom of this page and include your User ID.
My subscription isn't recognized on my Mac at all
If Scriptation on your Mac doesn't show your subscription — for example, no Connections section, no Restore Purchases button on the upgrade screen, or you're only shown plans to purchase — this is usually one of the following:
- You're on an outdated version of Scriptation. Update to the latest version from the App Store and try again — this alone often fixes the issue. You can also turn on automatic updates so this doesn't happen again.
- The Mac is signed into a different Apple ID than the one that holds your subscription. Compare Apple IDs across devices — see How do I check which Apple ID is logged into my device?.
- The Mac's file system works differently than iPad/iPhone. The Connections tab for cloud storage doesn't appear on Mac — this is expected and isn't related to your subscription status. On Mac, install your cloud provider's native app and add your cloud folders as Favorites instead. See Where are Cloud storage folders on Mac? and Favorite Folders on Scriptation for Mac
If you're seeing multiple, identically priced plans on the Upgrade screen (for example, two $99/year options), these are just different billing interval choices — if your subscription is already active, you don't need to select anything there.
